Social networking has taken on a whole new meaning with the maturing of the internet. It used to be you swapped stories and recommendations across the back fence or at local club meetings. Now the chat is world wide. The advent of social networking sites have opened up your reach to an unlimited distance.

The sites all work on a similar premise. You can sign up for free and will be offered voluntary upgrade options. You decide whether the upgrades represent value to you and your marketing efforts.

Once a member of any of the sites, the key is to be subtle. If you knock everyone in the head trying to sell the benefits of your business, you probably will achieve minimal results. Make friends, ask what they do, provide advice or something of value to persuade them to review what you offer.

Also take advantage of the various options within each site. Create a brief summary of who you are and what you do, create a blog post on the site, join clubs within each site relevant to your interests, invite others to be friends.
